Location, Location, Location

Hi Everyone, today it is my great pleasure to host fellow Liquid Silver Books author Christy GissendanerChristy is going to share her new release Having Cake along with some of the places she gets her inspirations.

Location, Location, Location
It’s true in real estate, but the same also applies to writing fiction. A strong sense of location can help carry a novel. Whether it’s Regency England or sunny San Francisco, where an author bases their tale lends a lot to a story.

For me, I find myself visiting (and often revisiting) my personal favorite locations. Atlanta and Vegas are two settings I often use. For my latest work, Having Cake, I decided to use Gatlinburg. It’s a location I’ve recently started vacationing in and it couldn’t be more perfect for my “love in a hot tub” story.

If you’ve ever visited the Smoky Mountains, you’ll appreciate my enjoyment. With quaint retail shops and nature galore, Gatlinburg is a mecca for tourists who enjoy the quieter side of life. But be forewarned…the twisting, narrow mountain roads are not for the faint of heart!

I’ve visited many cities in Tennessee. Memphis and Nashville are great, but the slow pace of Smoky living never fails to please me. Ole Smoky Moonshine, where you can get free tastes of white lightnin’ and the delectable candy shops are must-see stops while you’re in town. Meg, the heroine in Having Cake, owns a candy store with taffy as her specialty. Her career was inspired by the mountain taffy, which you can see being pulled daily in downtown Gatlinburg. It’s a special treat, one my boys love to watch. It’s sticky as all get-out, but oh so yummy.

And how can you forget the hot tubs? There is nothing better than ending the evening with a quick dip in an outdoor hot tub, overlooking the mountain vista. And if you choose to enjoy it with two sexy men (like Meg), that’s entirely up to you!
